Drafta brings an AutoCAD-style 2D drafting toolset to Android phones and tablets and to any browser. It opens real DXF and DWG drawings — layers, blocks, dimensions, hatches, text and true colours come through intact — and edits them with the commands drafters already know: line, polyline, rectangle, circle, arc, ellipse, spline, offset, trim, extend, fillet, chamfer, stretch, mirror, arrays, join, break and grips on every object.
Precision on a touchscreen was the core design problem. While a tool waits for a point, the crosshair floats above the fingertip with a magnifier, object snaps find endpoints, midpoints, centres, intersections and tangents, ortho and polar tracking lock directions, and a CAD keypad takes exact lengths and angles. Typed input understands absolute, relative and polar coordinates. Hatches find the room around a tapped point automatically, and five kinds of dimensions follow the drawing's dimension style.
Drawings are saved on the device and work fully offline; sign-in adds cloud drawings. Exports include a vector PDF plotted to scale on A4 to A0 or ANSI sheets, DXF, PNG and SVG. Drafta Control, the admin dashboard, manages members, bKash and Nagad payments for Pro, plans, cloud drawings, templates, samples and the block library (uploaded as DXF and converted in the browser), guides, announcements, every tool's label, alias, toolbar tab and order, feature switches, Android releases with in-app update prompts, the support inbox and the product website.
Mobile CAD apps usually fail at precision: a fingertip hides the point being placed, snapping is unreliable and typing coordinates on a phone keyboard is slow. The app also had to open real DXF drawings from AutoCAD without losing layers, blocks, dimensions or hatches, plot to an exact scale, keep working on a building site with no signal, and be fully manageable by a small team — tools, content, pricing and releases — without a developer.
We wrote a dedicated CAD engine in plain JavaScript: a document model with an undo journal, a geometry kernel for intersections, offset, trim, extend and fillet, a planar-graph boundary finder for hatches, and a renderer that draws thousands of entities on a canvas while a separate overlay handles the cursor, snaps and previews. Touch input uses a floating crosshair with a magnifier and a numeric pad; a command runner gives every tool AutoCAD-like prompts and options. DXF import and export are validated against an independent library, PDF plots are vector, and the whole app is bundled inside a lightweight Android shell so it starts instantly and works offline. Laravel powers the API and Drafta Control, which feeds the app its tools, content and settings on every start.
